Why I decided to do this gap year

It was early in my high school years when a friend mentioned a newly-started program with Cru. It was a nine-month gap year mission trip abroad where my team and I would get to know local high school students and share our faith. I was kind of interested, but as some of you know, very indecisive about things. I knew I had time to think. In so saying that to myself, I dropped it and forgot about it. It was in my senior year that I was feeling pressured about MAJOR life decisions. My mom gave me a date to make up my mind to either go to college or do the gap year. A family member of mine lost someone they knew to suicide. It hit me hard. Like an ice snowball hitting your face. There are so many people in this world that live everyday of their lives without hope. They have nothing to live for; nothing to find joy in. I decided I wanted to show people that hope and joy that can only be found in Jesus and maybe find my joy and hope again as well. In searching, I can help others come to the end of their search.
